Bobbie Potter, recruitment and community college liaison for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, was presented the first College Diversity Enhancement Award. The award is given in recognition of outstanding contributions and demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity in the college.
Bobbie Potter has made numerous contributions to the college that positively support and foster a diverse student population, including an open house for prospective students and their families; an event for newly admitted students; and a student phone campaign to welcome new students. In addition, she regularly meets with high school teachers, guidance counselors, and community college officials to build relationships and promote undergraduate education in our college.
Bobbie Potter has a deep commitment to students and works to provide a comfortable environment in which diverse opinions and questions can be shared openly. She recognizes the wonderful diversity across the Commonwealth and takes every opportunity to effectively connect with prospective students. “She values the opportunities that a diverse environment affords students; she values the opinions of students, faculty, and staff and truly believes that by providing essential guidance and advising, all students have a chance to be successful,” Mildred Johnson, senior associate director of Undergraduate Admissions, noted in her nomination letter.
