Overview

The college seeks nominations of faculty members to receive the “Andy Swiger Land-Grant Award.” This award is made possible by an endowment established in honor of former Dean Andy Swiger.  This award is in recognition of creative accomplishments that contribute to solving practical problems and enhancing production and profit in agriculture.  The award this year includes $2,000 cash plus $2,000 in operating funds for the winner.

Eligibility (Who can apply / be nominated)

All full- and part-time, regular and restricted appointments, academic-year and calendar-year faculty with teaching, research, or extension appointments in the college.  Nominations are encouraged from colleagues, department heads, staff, or members of the community who are familiar with the faculty member’s work.  Renomination of previous nominees are encouraged.

Selection Criteria (How recipients will be chosen)

Nominees will be evaluated on their creative accomplishments in research, teaching, or extension that contribute to solving practical problems and thereby enhancing production and profit in agriculture.

Packet Requirements (What to submit)

Nomination letter not to exceed five pages should include:
1.  A description of the nominee’s activities which emphasizes their creative accomplishments in research, teaching, and extension.
2.  A description of the impact that the nominee has made towards solving practical problems and how this has enhanced production and profit in agriculture.
3.  A clear identification of the time period and who has been impacted or has benefited from the faculty member’s accomplishments.
4.  A short summary of the faculty member’s education, experience, and responsibilities.
