Overview
The Employee of the Month award recognizes the outstanding efforts of staff and the contributions they make to the success of the College. The Employee of the Year will be selected from the year’s winners of the Employee of the Month award. Presentation of the Employee of the Year is made at the Annual Staff Picnic in July of each year. A cash award for the Employee of the Year is made possible through the Andy Swiger Land Grant Endowment.
Eligibility (Who can apply / be nominated)
• Nominee must be a current classified employee within the college or other units that support the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. (For example: human resources, sponsored programs, etc).
• Employment period is equal to at least one year on a full-time basis or the equivalent service on a part-time basis.
Selection Criteria (How recipients will be chosen)
• Demonstrates professionalism and enthusiasm in the performance of responsibilities and daily interaction.
• Displays humanitarian efforts and is instrumental in improving morale.
• Demonstrates a willingness to help others within the department, college, and/or university.
• Demonstrates a commitment to his or her professional development.
• Willing to take initiative and to accept and carry out additional responsibilities beyond regular job assignments.
Employee of the Year recipient will be chosen from the previous year’s (July-June) winners of the Employee of the Month award.
Submission Details (Where, how and to whom)
Nominations are continuously accepted for the employee of the month award. All winners will be candidates for the Dean’s award (Employee of the Year) for the year. Please submit your applications (marked “Confidential") to Ellie Sullivan in the Dean’s office using the form at http://www.ag.vt.edu/calssa/eom1.doc. Monthly award will be presented to awardee during the second week of the month.
By the 5th of July, the Selection Committee will name the selected recipient of the Employee of the Year award. Employee of the Year award will be presented at the annual staff picnic.
