We are seeking an eager individual to provide programmatic support to the Business Practices unit of CI’s Center for Environmental Leadership in Business (CELB). The position will require extensive research on environmental challenges posed by biofuels, with a particular focus on the soy industry in Brazil and the oil palm industry in Indonesia.
CELB provides a forum for collaboration between the private sector and the environmental community. CELB’s initiatives promote business practices that reduce industry’s ecological footprint, contribute to conservation and create business benefits for participating companies.
Research, analyze and report on the following:
• biofuel market actors and sustainability initiatives;
• agronomic and economic considerations of producing biofuel crops on degraded lands;
• successful cases of protected area reserves within plantations; and
• palm oil market and actors in China and India.
• A graduate or undergraduate student who has completed coursework in: business management and/or conservation science, natural resource management or biology
• Excellent research and analytical skills
• Proficient in MS Office, Outlook and internet navigation
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Interest in biology, conservation and/or the environment
• Portuguese language ability a plus, but not necessary
