Description
INTERNSHIP #1 – Colonial Downs, New Kent, VA. June 9 to Aug 6. Friday through Tuesday. The Virginia Thoroughbred Association will have a marketing and hospitality suite at the Colonial Downs racetrack and will maintain a presence there throughout the 2008 Thoroughbred race meet. The internship at the racetrack will be focused on marketing VTA membership and services to attendees and assisting VTA staff with two large events. Responsibilities will include: 1) monitoring fourth floor Turf Club hospitality suite; 2) collecting information regarding Virginia owners and breeders, and Virginia-bred horses which compete in the races each day; 3) developing a program to market VTA memberships and services to track attendees; 4) assisting VTA staff with Virginia Derby Day membership event and June 21 Awards and Hall of Fame event; and assisting VTA staff with distribution of and media reporting on Virginia Breeders Fund Awards earned each day.
Knowledge of horses and horse racing helpful but not required.
