Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University A land-grant institution
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is dedicated to strengthening communities and their economic viability by creating innovative tools that citizens and local governments can use to respond to change.
Virginia Cooperative Extension's Community Viability area specialists are working with Extension agents in field offices as well as with other campus based faculty and the university's Outreach Division to assess community needs, help design a community based plan of action, and help determine appropriate delivery methods suitable for various programs.
A primary goal of the Community Viability effort is to match local needs with resources available within the land-grant universities, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University, as well as through other state and federal agencies and non-governmental agencies.
