Tidewater Resident Awarded Scholarship at Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va., April 4, 2002 -- Emily Katherine Davis, a senior at Virginia Tech, has been awarded a scholarship to pursue her studies in animal and poultry sciences.

The daughter of Dwight and Holly Davis of Norfolk, she has been named a recipient of the $1,000 Animal and Poultry Sciences Scholarship for the coming fall semester.

She is active in the PreVet Club, and she serves as a staff writer for the Collegiate Times. Davis has also been recognized for her academic achievements by the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Golden Key International Honor Society, and the dean's list. She also received the Roanoke Valley Foundation Scholarship, the Ashe-Lockhart Scholarship, and the American Society of Animal Science Scholarship Award.

Margaret Susan Piersol, a senior at Virginia Tech, has been awarded a scholarship to pursue her studies in animal and poultry sciences and biology.

The daughter of William Piersol Jr., and Carina Piersol of Virginia Beach, she has been named a recipient of the $1,000 Ashe-Lockhart Scholarship for the coming fall semester.

She is active in Phi Sigma, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Golden Key Honor Society, and serves on the Virginia Tech Union Concerts Committee. Piersol has also been recognized for her achievements receiving the Princess Anne Cavalier Award, the NY Council Navy League Scholarship, Classical Associeation of Virginia Honorary Mention, and recognized by Who's Who Among American High School Students.
