Advising

When it comes to putting together a plan to finish a degree, advising is critical. Faculty members in the college are among the best academic advisers on campus. In fact, they consistently win awards for the quality of advising they provide. Virginia Tech is a big university, but advisers make it seem like a small town where everyone knows everyone else.

Student advising is handled by Coordinating Academic Advisers within the student's department. Departmental advisers are listed below. Prospective students who know which department they are interested in should contact that department's adviser directly. Prospective students with general questions or students with an undecided major can contact Mary Marchant, Associate Dean of Academic Programs, Office of Academic Programs, 1060 Litton Reaves Hall (0334), Blacksburg, VA 24061, (540) 231-6503, Fax: (540) 231-6741, calsadv@vt.edu.
