June 1, 2016

Elyse Clarke

Elyse Clark is a graduate student in the Department of Crop and Soil Environmental Sciences, where she studies the influence Appalachian coalmines have water quality. Her interests in geology and hydrology developed while an undergraduate student at Mary Washington University in Fredericksburg, Virginia, led her to graduate study. At Virginia Tech, Clark’s research is developing new knowledge about the release of water contaminants from geologic materials and is contributing to improved environmental protection in mining areas. She is pursuing a Ph.D. degree as a Doctoral Scholar of Virginia Tech’s Institute for Critical Technology and Applied Science.
