Summer Orientation 2020

Welcome to Summer Orientation 2020 for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences! Please click on your major below for further instruction regarding your academic advising.

Welcome to our Agribusiness program!  We are excited to start this new journey with you and are here to help you along the way.

Advising sessions for Agribusiness majors will be on the following dates:

  • Transfers: June 25th and July 17th
  • Freshman: July 7th, 8th, 9th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 20th, 21st

In order to provide each student adequate time for course scheduling and discussion, you will need to sign up for a 45-minute advising session. Please make sure you have your Virginia Tech PID and password ready. You can sign up for your advising session through this link.

If needed, here are the step-by-step instructions for setting up your appointment.

Once you have signed up for your advising appointment, please continue to check your VT email regularly for notifications. I will also be sending more information about what you will need for your advising session. If you have any issues, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Welcome to Animal and Poultry Sciences! We are excited to have you join our department and look forward to meeting you in person this fall.

For Orientation advising, which will occur July 6-24 for APSC majors, you will receive an email (using your VT email address) from Dr. Eversole, Dr. Mercadante, or Dr. Wood with instructions on how to sign up for a 30-minute virtual advising appointment. During that appointment, we will review your fall course schedule and answer any questions you may have.

In this survey, you will be asked a few questions about you as well as finding out if you have any college credits you will be bringing into Virginia Tech. This includes Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and dual enrollment, or transfer credits from the community college (if you are a transfer student). It is extremely important that you fill out this survey by July 1 st so when you meet with your advisor for your advising appointment, your fall schedule is as accurate as possible.

Transfer Credit (AP, IB and Dual Enrollment)

STEP 1a: Complete the Transfer Credit survey from Module 1 you received May 26 – results will be mailed to me

STEP 1b: For AP tests, have your scores sent from College Board to us (information here and click on Advanced Placement [AP] Credit)

For IB and dual enrollment classes, request your transcripts be sent from the college or university to Admissions (address information listed at the bottom of this page).

STEP 2: FST Student Site

  • Must be logged into your VT Google Account to view

STEP 3: Select an option for your major (you may change it later) – See FST student flyer.pdf

  • Must be logged into your VT Google Account to view

STEP 4: Make an appointment with Herbert Bruce and select 2 consecutive hours

  • Appointments are through Navigate and select Get Advising
