In the agribusiness major students are prepared for careers as an agricultural loan officer, sales manager, marketing specialist, commodity trader, and more. Students can also learn small business management skills while gaining the science background needed to go directly into veterinary medicine or professional schools.

Students in the agricultural sciences major experience an interdisciplinary program of study designed to address the growing needs of todays evolving agricultural and food systems. The agricultural sciences program produces graduates with strengths in teaching and learning in formal and non-formal settings, community education, and development, and leadership and social change.
The mission of the Department of Animal and Poultry Sciences is to provide comprehensive teaching, research, and Extension programs for our students and the seven major livestock and poultry industries that we serve including beef cattle, broilers, horses, layers, sheep, swine, and turkeys.
Agricultural and applied economics is the science of human decision-making as it applies to agribusiness, finance and com-munity and rural economic development, international trade, and the environment.

Dairy science is the study of the basic and applied science and technology of animal nutrition, physiology, lactation, genetics, reproduction, and the business of diary enterprise management. The dairy science major is intended for students interested in studying and/or working with animals in careers such as veterinary medicine, diary production, and laboratory or field research.

Experience the creativity and rewards of the many facets of horticulture. Students can specialize in producing floriculture and nursery plants, growing sustainable fruits and vegetables, landscape design and management, and other areas of plant science.
The environmental science program emphasizes ecosystem function and protec-tion, land-use planning, waste management, water quality, recycling, decontamination, revegetation of disturbed sites, and agriculture’s impacts on the environment. If you want to become a scientist with the skills and knowledge to improve environ-mental quality through better management then the environmental science major is for you.

Students majoring in Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise (HNFE) are trained for a wide variety of health professions. HNFE provides a unique fusion of courses that encompass human performance, weight management disease and prevention, as well as the psychosocial aspects of health and human behavior. Our curriculum trains students to address complex issues and questions in the areas of human nutrition, foods and exercise.
