The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences serves Virginians with the knowledge and resources needed to meet today’s most pressing challenges.  The combined strength of our academic departments on campus, research facilities throughout the commonwealth, and Virginia Cooperative Extension in local communities, addresses critical issues facing not only the commonwealth, but also the global community, including food security and safety, agriculture production, health, and leadership.

Many of our greatest accomplishments are made possible through philanthropy. Gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundation partners allow us to attract and retain the best faculty, staff, and students.  Faculty holding named positions have received awards for teaching and research. Students pursue educational opportunities across the globe and receive scholarships that allow them to focus more on their studies and less on their finances.

Since our founding as a land grant institution in 1872, the agricultural industry and the communities we serve have evolved beyond our wildest imagination. As we look toward the future, we know that the rapid pace of innovation and discovery will provide both opportunities and challenges. Gifts from our friends and alumni to the Dean’s Fund for Excellence provide a flexible resource that allows us to respond to opportunities as they arise, meet challenges effectively, and proactively address the changing needs of our students, our faculty, and our industry.

I invite you to join the thousands of stakeholders who give to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences each year.  Please feel free to stop by and visit when you are on campus, or contact our advancement team to explore how you can join the college in our pursuit of excellence.

Thank you for your investment in the future!

Sincerely,

Alan Grant
