Vernon Meacham joined the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in February 2005 as Associate Director of Corporate Relations.  His responsibilities included enhancing the strength of strategic corporate relations to support our land grant missions of teaching, research and extension.  These activities included increasing corporate and foundation support for faculty endowments, student scholarships, building and improving facilities, cultivating sponsored research, and developing student and alumni programs.

In November 2007, Meacham assumed the role of Interim Director of Development and in August 2008 was named Director of Development for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Vernon provides leadership for the development of our college’s fund-raising and donor relations efforts.  In his role, he works closely with individual donors, corporations and foundations to build relationships with the college and provides leadership to our development office.  

Prior to coming to Virginia Tech, Meacham worked in agribusiness as an animal nutritionist and as an executive in the fertilizer industry, working with organic based fertilizer technology and manufacturing operations.  A native of Blacksburg, he received his bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and his master’s degree in Animal Nutrition from Virginia Tech.  He currently serves on the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Alumni Organization Board and has served on the AGR Alumni Board.
