Does your program need to register with the Virginia Tech  Office of Youth Protection?

Educational programming and activities involving minors are integral to the engagement mission of Virginia Tech. Ensuring the safety and well-being of minors on campus is imperative.

Virginia Tech encourages the safety and well-being of minors participating in any programs and activities that involve non-enrolled minors and are sponsored by Virginia Tech or conducted by other organizations on campus, including camps, clinics, workshops, conferences, research lab mentorships, or other educational activities, on campus or off.

The Virginia Tech Office of Youth Protection was formed in 2020 to establish and consolidate oversight of the policies and operating standards for programs and activities involving non-student minors. The Virginia Tech Office of Youth Protection takes a proactive approach to protecting children and the faculty, staff and volunteers of the University.

The Minors on Campus or Participating in University-Related Programs Policy applies to all Virginia Tech University faculty, staff, student, and volunteer, paid or unpaid, working with minors in programs or activities affiliated with the University. Certain training, background checks and information is required to fully meet the requirements of this policy.  To see the full policy please visit:
