Congratulations to CALS Global Student Leaders!

The CALS Global Student Leaders Program was designed for students eager to tackle complex issues in agriculture, food security, and health. For challenges that transcend geographic boundaries and sectors, leaders for the next generation need to practice and develop skills such as critical thinking, leadership, and systems-thinking to create meaningful impact. The Inaugural Program kicked-off this spring with students representing five CALS schools and departments.

This international experiential learning program is centered around Nosara, Costa Rica—which is one of the five Blue Zones (areas where the highest proportion of centenarians exist [e.g., those 100+years of age]). Overall, students will examine the intersect between yoga, community values, and health. Key components will include discussion with locals about customs that support health (focus on physical heath and community), a service learning project (tree planting), an open-air food demonstration, and daily yoga practice (inclusive breathing, postures, meditation).
