Preparing Hokies for What’s Next!

September was an exciting month for us  in CALS! This fall, hundreds of students took advantage of opportunities to build their professional skills, connect directly with employers, and explore where their careers could take them.

  • It all began with CALS Fest, where more than 30 of our college’s student organizations came together to connect with fellow CALS Hokies and welcome new members. More than 400 students joined us at the Hahn Horticulture Garden to explore student organizations, enjoy free food and swag, and spend time with the CALS community. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to kick off the semester!
  • Our Career and Professional Development Prep Night welcomed 87 students who came ready to prepare for upcoming networking and career opportunities. That preparation continued at our Networking Meet & Greet, hosted by Virginia Farm Bureau, where 85 students connected with representatives from 33 employers in a smaller setting designed to encourage meaningful conversations and new professional connections.
  • Our Career Fair — our biggest event of the three! We welcomed 86 employers and an incredible 948 students from all eight Virginia Tech colleges. The energy throughout the fair was amazing as students explored opportunities, made connections, and took another step toward their future careers.

We are incredibly proud of every student who showed up, introduced themselves, asked questions, and made the most of these opportunities. We are grateful to our employer partners, campus collaborators, and everyone who helped make these events possible. We can’t wait to see where these connections lead! 🧡
